Undergraduate Nursing Programs
Professional nursing education prepares graduates to be responsible informed nurses, through the acquisition and application of knowledge, skills and habits of mind. Learning is dynamic, student centred and should be a discovery process, which encourages the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as promoting self-direction and self-responsibility. Graduates from this program are eligible to register with the NBWA as Division 1 Comprehensive Registered Nurses.
Nursing is the largest health care profession and usually makes up one-quarter of hospital staff. Registered Nurses work in a variety of settings including community centres, rural areas, and using such initiatives as The Royal Flying Doctor Service and hospital-in-the-home. Registered Nurses also undertake further study to specialise in midwifery, paediatric nursing, mental health, intensive care, and many more. In particular, a nursing career is exciting and dynamic with many opportunities both nationally and internationally to make a difference to people's lives.
